PURPOSE: To encourage students to learn more about geography and world cultures.

DESCRIPTION: The GeoBee is a nationwide geography competition for 4th through 8th grade students. The event is sponsored by the National Geographic Society.

Students who participate in the GeoBee are invited to optional lunchtime study clubs once a month beginning in the fall. These meetings include geography games and fun activities.

The winner of the GeoBee has an opportunity to compete at a state level. If she/he scores in the top 100 on a National Geographic qualifying test, the student will also have the opportunity to represent La Entrada at the national competition in May and compete for a scholarship in the amount of $50,000, $15,000 or $10,000!

The 2019 GeoBee will be held on Thursday, January 24 at 3:00pm.

VOLUNTEER DESCRIPTION:Day-of event opportunities include assisting with sign-ins, seat assignments, and/or scoring.
