2010-2011 Lunchtime EnrichmentInstituted in 2001, the La Entrada Lunchtime Enrichment (LELE) Program provides new horizons for 4th through 8th graders during their lunch hour. This innovative and award-winning program enhances our students’ lunchtime experience, helps build life skills, and enriches their education. Over 200 students participated last year. This year, LELE will be offered on Wednesdays during both lunch periods. The programs offered this year are: Book Club, Perspectives in Medicine, Weapons & Wars: Science’s Role in World Conquest, and Youth Action Council. All students are invited to participate and enrollment is voluntary. Students may sign up for one or more series. Sign up during the Leopard’s Faire, or with your home room/core teacher by September 10th, 2010. There are no fees or costs to participate. Book Club: Meet monthly with your friends and a volunteer to discuss books you choose to read. Perspectives in Medicine: Listen and learn as local doctors discuss their medical practices here in the United States and around the world. Historical Weapons & Wars: Science’s Role in World Conquest. Learn earn about different weapons and technology used in wars throughout history while you eat your lunch, and then build some models in the MUR. Youth Action Council: Work with Counselor Ms. Lowe to come up with ideas and plans on how to make La Entrada a kinder, gentler world. Session Dates
A year-end celebratory party for all LELE participants will take place in the spring at the conclusion of LELE programs.
